Harston Wins Senior Section Championship

OLD HICKORY, Tenn.—Lipscomb University golf coach Buddy Harston matched his opening round of 69 to win today's Senior Section Championship. He finished at 4-under-par 138.

Tom Kammann of Baneberry Golf & Resort posted a fine second round of 68 to finish one shot back.  Vanderbilt Legends Club General Manager Will Brewer finished under par for the Championship in sole 3rd place at 141 (-2 under par).  Gary Head (Hendersonville) won the Gene Dixon Division after posting two sub-par rounds.  The Gene Dixon Division is named after Pro Emeritus of Stones River Country Club, Gene Dixon, and features a shorter course yardage than the Championship Division.

Council Fire Director of Golf Hunt Gilliland, tied with Harton after the first round, finished tied for 11th after a second-round 78.

In all 4 qualifiers will represent the Tennessee Section at the Senior Professional National Championship in October which will be hosted at the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Florida.  They include Buddy Hartson (Nashville), Tom Kammann (Baneberry), Will Brewer (Franklin), and James Paschal (Hendersonville). 

27 Senior Golf Professionals competed over the last two days at the 6,600 yard par 71 Old Hickory Country Club.  The next Championship on the TPGA's tournament schedule will be the TaylorMade-adidas Assistant Golf Professional Championship at Brentwood Country Club August 27-28.
