Mocs Golfers Sign NW Whitfield’s Keener
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—Hudson Keener has signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf and continue his education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, head coach Mark Guhne announced Wednesday.
“Hudson Keener has had an outstanding year and we are thrilled to have him as a part of our program.” said Guhne. “He is a terrific talent and we are excited that he chose to stay close to home to go to school.”
Keener was runner-up at the 2006 Georgia State Championships after winning the Region 7AAAA championship while at Northwest Whitfield. He also won the Atlanta Junior and was 20th at the Future Masters.
Keener has represented the Dalton Golf and Country Club at the Georgia State Club Championships and finished seventh at his U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier. He has competed in some local tournaments, finishing third overall and second among amateurs at the Don Malarkey Memorial at Signal Mountain this summer. He also was second at the Coca-Cola Junior held this summer at Chattanooga Golf and Country Club.
Keener joins a UTC team which currently enjoys the highest Golfstat rating in the history of the program at No. 78.
